Robotics Professor Warns Drones Will “Lead To A Sanitised Factory Of Slaughter”

We are witnessing the beginning of “the industrial revolution of war”

A prominent artificial intelligence expert has urged that president Obama is setting a horrendous precedent by embracing drone technology as a means of covert warfare.
Professor Noel Sharkey of Sheffield University, penned a piece in The Guardian today that slams the use of missile strikes using unmanned ariel vehicles, warning that what we are seeing is just the beginning of “the industrial revolution of war.”
Sharkey notes that the CIA is thought to have killed anywhere up to 1035 civilians in drone strikes outside of legitimate war zones in the last eight years, including 200 children.
“Who in their right mind would give a powerful unmanned air force to a covert organisation with such a track record for unaccountable and illegal killing?” the professor asks.
“Obama is establishing a dangerous precedent that is, at best, legally questionable in a world where more than 50 countries are acquiring the technology.” he adds.
Sharkey warns that in a modern day arms race, other countries such as Israel, India, Russia and especially China are racing to develop and export armed attack drones.

Al Qaeda, The CIA and Media Propaganda directed Against Syria

The ‘objective’ news network PBS has been (and still is) engaging in the media propaganda war against the Syrian government, from perpetuating the myth about Syrian Migs attacking rebel fighters to calling the Syrian rebels “underdogs,” the Public Broadcasting Service is perpetuating the disinformation campaign surrounding the events in Syria.

On July 25th, PBS Newshour host Judy Woodruff interviewedYoussef Amrani, Morroco’s minister delegate for foreign affairs. In the interview, Woodruff bought up the topic of diplomacy, specifically within the framework of the UN Security Council, with Amrani stating that he wanted more sanctions and the like on the Assad regime. When Amrani stated that he thought the UN “should work with the opposition” to find a solution to the crisis, Woodruff responded by saying;

Well, that brings me to the question. One of the reasons the U.S. and other countries have been reluctant to get involved, to support the opposition is because they don’t know what a successor government is going to look like. We just saw in that report al-Qaida starting to show up among the opposition. (emphasis added)
Such statements are utter and outright fabrications! The US and other countries have been quite involved in supporting the opposition and Al Qaeda is not “starting to show up” in the opposition as Woodruff would like viewers to think, but rather have been there for quite some time.

In regards to the US supporting the Syrian rebels, this was first acknowledged in December 2011 on the site The American Conservative where former CIA analyst Philip Giraldi wrote an article in which he stated that “the CIA and U.S. Spec Ops are providing communications equipment and intelligence to assist the rebel cause, enabling the fighters to avoid concentrations of Syrian soldiers.” Most recently, it was reported on August 1st that President Obama “has signed a secret order authorizing U.S. support for rebels seeking to depose Syrian President Bashar al-Assad and his government.”

The US government has known that Al Qaeda has been among the Syrian rebels as in February 2012, Director of National Intelligence James R. Clapper stated that “Members of Al Qaeda have infiltrated Syrian opposition groups.”

Thus, the US government has been supporting the rebels since late last year and has been working with Al Qaeda (albeit indirectly) to topple the Syrian government, yet PBS seems to be concerned only with spouting lies.

In the same interview, when Woodruff asked Amrani “How can you be sure that the next government won’t be as repressive as this government?,” Amrani replied by saying “Listen, we had some experiences in Libya, in Tunisia, in the Maghreb, that were successful.”

It is quite interesting that he cites Libya as a “success” as that nation, after being overrun by US-NATO backed fighters, has been plagued by violence in recent months. It makes one wonder what the ambassador thinks “success” actually means.

In an interview on July 26th, Judy Woodruff interviewed Kelly McEvers, a journalist from National Public Radio, after she had “just completed a weeklong reporting trip to northwestern Syria, near the Turkish border, where she visited a number of towns currently under rebel control. In the interview, McEvers was asked about the Syrian rebels. After her description of them, Woodruff stated the the rebels were outgunned to which McEvers responded

Exactly. They are so outgunned right now. They’re basically operating with rifles and rocket-propelled grenades and homemade bombs.

That’s another key component to their sort of arsenal right now. That’s how they deal with regime tanks.

But when you talk about a fully equipped army with tanks, artillery, mortars, helicopters, and now we have seen jets being employed in this fight by the regime’s army, you can see that the rebels are definitely the underdogs here. (emphasis added)
This myth that the Syrian rebels are outgunned is but another fabrication. It was reported on August 2nd that the Syrian rebels were using a captured tank in the battle for Aleppo. This is not the first time this has happened as in February, the International Business Times presented a video on Youtube which showed the rebels using a tank against the Syrian military. The use of fighters jets is also a myth that is based on a single tweet from BBC correspondent Ian Pannell. The magazine The Aviationistdid a report on the alleged incident of Syrian air force MiGs attacking the rebels and found that the plane in question was an L-39 “a combat trainer” which “could be used for reconnaissance purposes.” Yet, even if the Syrian regime was using fighter jets on the rebels, the rebels most likely wouldn’t have a problem as they now have surface to air missiles. Despite this evidence, McEvers still feels the need to state that the rebels “are definitely the underdogs.”

Thus, the propaganda campaign of demonizing the Assad regime and praising the US-NATO backed rebels continues with the help of such ‘reliable’ and ‘centrist’ sources as PBS. The psyop against the public continues as the imperialists push ever closer to intervention in Syria.

FBI Admits Pentagon Dinner Guest al-Awlaki Worked for Them

Pentagon dinner guest and Osama bin Laden fill-in Anwar al-Awlaki was in FBI custody but the agency let him go, FBI assistant director Mark Giuliano has told the House Appropriations Committee. The incident occurred in October, 2202, at the JFK airport. The American born cleric was a top CIA target and named a serious threat by the head of Britain’s Secret Intelligence Service at the time.

Former FBI agents explained that the release was likely because the agency wanted to track him or work with him as a contact. A more likely explanation is that al-Awlaki worked as an operative for the agency.

Anwar al-Awlaki was allegedly killed in October of 2011 by a CIA Predator drone in Yemen. The following year, he supposedly called for biological attacks on America from the grave.

In 2010, we reported that al-Awlaki dined at the Pentagon a few months after the 9/11 attacks. “American-born cleric Awlaki’s role as a key figure in almost every recent terror plot targeting the United States and Canada, coupled with his visit to the Pentagon, only confirms our long stated position that Awlaki is a chief terrorist patsy-handler for the CIA – he is the federal government’s premier false flag agent,” Paul Joseph Watson wrote.

According to the official 9/11 narrative, al-Awlaki preached to three of the alleged 9/11 hijackers, the accused Fort Hood shooter Nidal Malik Hasan and the so-called underwear bomber, Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab. According to the government, he was promoted to the rank of “regional commander” within al-Qaeda in 2009. He was added the CIA’s list of targetsbecause he was considered an “imminent threat” in 2010.

Giuliano’s revelation is nothing new. In March of 2012, Lt.Col. Anthony Shaffer told Alex Jones that al-Awlaki worked as a triple agen and an FBI asset well before 9/11.

Shaffer told 9/11 Commission staff director Philip D. Zelikow that in 2000 a Defense Intelligence Agency data-mining program called Able Danger had uncovered two of the three terrorist cells later implicated in the September 11 attacks. His memoir on Able Danger,Operation Dark Heart, was censored by the Pentagon.

Judge Rules al-Qaeda and Iran Must Pay Billions to 9/11 Families

A federal judge in New York has ruled that al-Qaeda and Iran were responsible for the September 11, 2001 attacks and has ordered them to pay victim families $6 billion in compensation.

On Monday, U.S. Magistrate Frank Maas imposed civil penalties and said the money would be paid to 110 survivors and the estates of 47 victims.

A plaintiff’s legal team said it may seek the seizure of Iranian assets in order to pay the families.

In December of 2011, a federal district court in Manhattan ruled that Iran and Hezbollah materially and directly supported al-Qaeda in the attacks.

“The families have waited a very long time for this day and they have been through a lot. So I was greatly relieved that the families received an answer to the question that they asked me ten years ago: they asked who was the responsible party? How did this happen? Today a federal court judge has said that a principal responsible party is the Islamic Republic of Iran,” saidThomas E. Mellon, Jr. of Doylestown, Pennsylvania, law firm of Mellon Webster & Shelly, the lead attorney in the case.

Attorneys based their case on conclusions made by the 9/11 Commission’s recommendation “regarding an apparent link between Iran, Hezbollah, and the 9/11 hijackers, following the Commission’s own eleventh-hour discovery of significant National Security Agency intercepts,” according to the Havlish, et al vs. Osama Bin Laden, Iran, et al website.

Although the Commission claims al-Qaeda operatives passed through Iran and officials did not stamp their passports, it also admits (in Chapter 7) that Iran did not have knowledge of the supposed 9/11 plot. Moreover, the families of alleged hijackers Ahmed Alnami and Wail and Waleed Alshehri have denied they traveled to Iran on their way to training camps in Afghanistan.

In addition, although the establishment, including the Council on Foreign Relations, has claimed al-Qaeda and Hezbollah have worked together, there is no concrete evidence of this.
There is far more compelling evidence that the United States government and the CIA were responsible for training and assisting Afghan Arabs who would ultimately be designated as members of al-Qaeda.
Documented evidence reveals that Osama bin Laden worked directly with the CIA and Pakistani intelligence. It is said Bin Laden was personally recruited by the CIA in 1979 in Istanbul. He had the close support of Prince Turk bin Faisal, who was his friend and head of Saudi intelligence (see Andrew Gavin Marshall, The Imperial Anatomy of Al-Qaeda. The CIA’s Drug-Running Terrorists and the “Arc of Crisis”).
And yet to date there has not been a lawsuit launched against the CIA, Pakistan’s ISI, or the Saudis.

The end of al-Qaeda? US claims it has broken the back of the terrorist group as attacks fall to 2005 levels

US officials claim they have broken the back of the al-Qaeda network with the assassinations of Osama bin Laden and other top leaders — dealing the terrorist group a blow from which it is unlikely to recover.
Terrorist attacks have fallen to the lowest levels since 2005, a sign that al-Qaeda is weakened and has lost some of its ability to deal death and destruction, according to a report released on Tuesday by the US State Department.

However, counter-terrorism officials were quick to point out that al-Qaeda and other terrorist groups remain active and dangerous throughout the world.

Osama bin Laden

‘Landmark year’: The death of Osama bin Laden during a US commando raid was a turning point in the war against al-Qaeda, the State Department says

Still, the annual ‘Country Reports on Terrorism’ called 2011 a ‘landmark year,’ marked by the death of al-Qaeda’s founder during a dramatic Navy SEAL raid in May and the assassination of US-born radical cleric Anwar al-Awlaki in Yemen.
‘The loss of bin Laden and these other key operatives puts the network on a path of decline that will be difficult to reverse,’ according to the State Department.

The report attributed the killings, which included the May 2011 raid in which US commandos shot bin Laden in Pakistan, to improved cooperation on counter-terrorism. But it also cautioned al-Qaeda is adaptable and poses ‘an enduring and serious threat.’
While saying there were no terrorist attacks in the United States last year, the report said the US government remains concerned about ‘threats to the homeland,’ citing the foiled 2009 Christmas Day attempt by the Nigerian ‘underwear bomber’ who sought to blow up a Detroit-bound aircraft.
Still a threat

Still a threat: Boko Haram and other al-Qaeda-affiliated groups remain active and capable of carrying out deadly attacks like this one in Nigeria that killed 12 people

The report included a statistical annex prepared by the National Counterterrorism Center, part of the US intelligence community, that showed that the overall number of terrorist attacks worldwide fell to 10,283 last year from 11,641 in 2010.

The number of worldwide fatalities fell to 12,533 last year from 13,193 the year before, according to the statistics, which NCTC issued in a report published on June 1.
Imam Anwar al-Awlaki

Assassinated: The military and CIA have targeted top leaders, like US-born Imam Anwar al-Awlaki in Yemen
That was the lowest level since 2005, when there were more than 11,000 attacks and more than 14,000 fatalities. The general decline in terrorism-related fatalities – which peaked at more than 22,000 in 2007 – reflects, in part, less violence in Iraq.

The State Department report said that as al-Qaeda’s ‘core has gotten weaker,’ affiliated groups have gained ground, citing al-Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula as a particular threat and voicing concern about al-Qaeda in the Islamic Maghreb.
It also reported an increase in terrorist attacks in Africa, due largely to Nigeria’s Boko Haram militant group, as well as in the Western Hemisphere, which it attributed chiefly to FARC insurgents in Colombia.

Daniel Benjamin, the State Department’s coordinator for counter-terrorism, said last year was also significant for the ‘Arab Spring; of popular protests and what he described as its rebuff to al Qaeda’s ideology.

‘We saw millions of citizens throughout the Middle East advance peaceful public demands for change without any reference to al-Qaeda’s incendiary world view,’ he said, adding that upheaval also presents risks.

‘Revolutionary transformations have many bumps in the road,’ he added. ‘Inspiring as the moment may be, we are not blind to the attendant perils.’

Mexican Official Says CIA Manages Drug Trade; Doesn’t Want it to End

From Al Jazeera:
A spokesman for the Mexican state of Chihuahua has stirred up quite a bit of controversy in diplomatic circles for his comments to Al Jazeera regarding the United States Central Intelligence Agency’s role in the drug trade:
“It’s like pest control companies, they only control,” Guillermo Terrazas Villanueva, the Chihuahua spokesman, told Al Jazeera last month at his office in Juarez. “If you finish off the pests, you are out of a job. If they finish the drug business, they finish their jobs.”
Read More about Chihuahua and the CIA at Al Jazeera.
Accusations of CIA involvement in drug trafficking has been around for decades. Famously, San Jose Mercury News reporter Gary Webb wrote a series of articles detailing connections between the CIA, Nicaraguan rebels and the crack cocaine epidemic of the late eighties. A collection of the articles were later published as the 1999 bookDark Alliance: The CIA, the Contras, and the Crack Cocaine Explosion.
Sadly, Webb lived for only a few short years after his book saw publication. The cause? Two gunshots to the head. His death was ruled a suicide…

CIA suddenly discovers entire stack of Hollywood/bin Laden files

The US Defense Department and the CIA say that they’ve accidently uncovered a lost stack of files that details their relationship with Hollywood movie makers in the midst of a planned film about the raid that killed Osama bin Laden.
Both the Pentagon and America’s top spy agency are now appealing to a United States District Court judge for an extension in their motion for summary judgment in a Freedom of Information Act case involving what materials Washington insiders could have handed over to Hollywood. The CIA and DoD were petitioned with a FOIA request for material pertaining to their relationship with movie makers on behalf of the conservative watchdog group Judicial Watch, but now say they need more time to consider their plea because their latest discovery has unturned as many as 30 new documents detailing the events on and leading up to the May 2, 2011 execution.
A planned movie detailing the assassination of the former al-Qaeda leader, currently being produced under the title “Zero Dark Thirty,” is still in the works, although it has garnered criticism from those on all ends of the political spectrum over what sort of sensitive or classified information the Obama administration may have handed over to movie makers, notwithstanding serious national security risks. Now pending the results of a decision on the latest stack of documents, more information could be made available on how Hollywood was handed information for financial gain that the American public wasn’t privy to.
“The CIA discovered a 4 to 5 inch stack of records potentially responsive to plaintiff’s FOIA request that had been inadvertently overlooked during the CIA’s search,” Civil Division attorney Marcia Berman writes in a second motion to extend briefing, dated July 24, 2012, published that same afternoon by POLITICO. “The CIA is continuing to look into the circumstances of the discovery of the new documents to ensure the adequacy of its search.” They are now asking for an extension in the deadline for their summary motion regarding to FOIA requests for information.
The agency has refrained from discussing the just uncovered files in detail, but Berman writes, ” From its initial review of the documents, the CIA has determined that the newly discovered documents are responsive to plaintiff’s request but contain some duplicates of produced records. The CIA estimates that there are approximately 30 new documents (primarily emails), with many documents containing multiple pages.”
Days before the CIA said they found the new documents, Senate Intelligence Committee head Sen. Dianne Feinstein (D-California) suggested that a string of national security leaks have made it to the mainstream press as of late because the Obama administration was allowing sensitive material to seep through the White House. Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney, the likely Republican Party candidate to challenge Mr. Obama this fall, jumped on her statements during a Tuesday afternoon address this week. Following up hours later, Sen. Feinstein said she was “disappointed” by Romney’s remarks in the wake of her own.
“I was asked whether the White House might be responsible for recent national security leaks. I stated that I did not believe the president leaked classified information. I shouldn’t have speculated beyond that because the fact of the matter is I don’t know the source of the leaks,” the senator said.
Romney had told a crowd in Reno, Nevada that “Whoever provided classified information to the media, seeking political advantage for the administration, must be exposed, dismissed and punished. The time for stonewalling is over.”

Suspected Shooter Holmes Obviously Drugged During Arraignment

Appearing in court today, the suspected shooter in the Colorado mass murder case looked to be heavily drugged. Even the corporate media admitted he appeared to be sedated. FromNYMag.com:
Accused Aurora shooter James Eagan Holmes sat in a Colorado court room with red-and-orange-dyed hair and heavy eyelids this morning at his advisement hearing, speaking not a word and appearing to nearly nod off. The 24-year-old looked confused, blinked slowly, and struggled to keep his head up, leading the press to wonder if he’d been drugged.
Accused and convicted RFK assassin Sirhan Sirhan said he was drugged before the assassination:
Sirhan: “It was hot that night and I was very thirsty. I remember that….I went to the bar and had four drinks within about 15 minutes. I couldn’t seem to get enough to drink….They were Tom Collins’s….(but) I wasn’t drunk. I felt drugged. I think somebody slipped something into my drinks. My legs and arms became rubbery. I remember standing by my car but I couldn’t drive so I went back inside and got some coffee.”
Reynolds: “How did you get downstairs to the pantry?”
Sirhan: “Somebody guided me. I don’t know who.”
Reynolds: “Did you have your gun with you?”
Sirhan: “Yes. When I was in the pantry, the gun was in my hand.”
Reynolds: “Did you know Robert Kennedy was going to be walking toward you?”
Sirhan: “No. I didn’t know where I was and I don’t know how I got there. I was in a state of blackout.”
Recently produced evidence reveals that Sirhan was not the shooter and he was framed. In a federal court last November, lawyers argued that Sirhan “was an involuntary participant in the crimes being committed because he was subjected to sophisticated hypno programming and memory implantation techniques which rendered him unable to consciously control his thoughts and actions at the time the crimes were being committed,” according to court papers.
Was James Holmes also an unwilling participant and is he being drugged to prevent him from declaring his innocence or revealing other information at odds with the official narrative?

War On All Fronts

Paul Craig Roberts
Infowars.com
July 17, 2012
The Russian government has finally caught on that its political opposition is being financed by the US taxpayer-funded National Endowment for Democracy and other CIA/State Department fronts in an attempt to subvert the Russian government and install an American puppet state in the geographically largest country on earth, the one country with a nuclear arsenal sufficient to deter Washington’s aggression.
Just as earlier this year Egypt expelled hundreds of people associated with foreign-funded “non-governmental organizations” (NGOs) for “instilling dissent and meddling in domestic policies,” the Russian Duma (parliament) has just passed a law that Putin is expected to sign that requires political organizations that receive foreign funding to register as foreign agents. The law is based on the US law requiring the registration of foreign agents.
Much of the Russian political opposition consists of foreign-paid agents, and once the law passes leading elements of the Russian political opposition will have to sign in with the Russian Ministry of Justice as foreign agents of Washington. The Itar-Tass News Agency reported on July 3 that there are about 1,000 organizations in Russia that are funded from abroad and engaged in political activity. Try to imagine the outcry if the Russians were funding 1,000 organizations in the US engaged in an effort to turn America into a Russian puppet state. (In the US the Russians would find a lot of competition from Israel.)
The Washington-funded Russian political opposition masquerades behind “human rights” and says it works to “open Russia.” What the disloyal and treasonous Washington-funded Russian “political opposition” means by “open Russia” is to open Russia for brainwashing by Western propaganda, to open Russia to economic plunder by the West, and to open Russia to having its domestic and foreign policies determined by Washington.
“Non-governmental organizations” are very governmental. They have played pivotal roles in both financing and running the various “color revolutions” that have established American puppet states in former constituent parts of the Soviet Empire. NGOs have been called “coup d’etat machines,” and they have served Washington well in this role. They are currently working in Venezuela against Chavez.
Of course, Washington is infuriated that its plans for achieving hegemony over a country too dangerous to attack militarily have been derailed by Russia’s awakening, after two decades, to the threat of being politically subverted by Washington-financed NGOs. Washington requires foreign-funded organizations to register as foreign agents (unless they are Israeli funded). However, this fact doesn’t stop Washington from denouncing the new Russian law as “anti-democratic,” “police state,” blah-blah. Caught with its hand in subversion, Washington calls Putin names. The pity is that most of the brainwashed West will fall for Washington’s lies, and we will hear more about “gangster state Russia.”
China is also in Washington’s crosshairs. China’s rapid rise as an economic power is perceived in Washington as a dire threat. China must be contained. Obama’s US Trade Representative has been secretly negotiating for the last 2 or 3 years a Trans Pacific Partnership, whose purpose is to derail China’s natural economic leadership in its own sphere of influence and replace it with Washington’s leadership.

Washington is also pushing to form new military alliances in Asia and to establish new military bases in the Philippines, S. Korea, Thailand, Vietnam, Australia, New Zealand, and elsewhere.

Washington quickly inserted itself into disputes between China and Vietnam and China and the Philippines. Washington aligned with its former Vietnamese enemy in Vietnam’s dispute with China over the resource rich Paracel and Spratly islands and with the Philippines in its dispute with China over the resource rich Scarborough Shoal.
Thus, like England’s interference in the dispute between Poland and National Socialist Germany over the return to Germany of German territories that were given to Poland as World War I booty, Washington sets the stage for war.
China has been cooperative with Washington, because the offshoring of the US economy to China was an important component in China’s unprecedented high rate of economic development. American capitalists got their short-run profits, and China got the capital and technology to build an economy that in another 2 or 3 years will have surpassed the sinking US economy. Jobs offshoring, mistaken for free trade by free market economists, has built China and destroyed America.
Washington’s growing interference in Chinese affairs has convinced China’s government that military countermeasures are required to neutralize Washington’s announced intentions to build its military presence in China’s sphere of influence. Washington’s view is that only Washington, no one else, has a sphere of influence, and Washington’s sphere of influence is the entire world.
On July 14 China’s official news agency, Xinhua, said that Washington was interfering in Chinese affairs and making China’s disputes with Vietnam and the Philippines impossible to resolve.
It looks as if an over-confident US government is determined to have a three-front war: Syria, Lebanon, and Iran in the Middle East, China in the Far East, and Russia in Europe. This would appear to be an ambitious agenda for a government whose military was unable to occupy Iraq after nine years or to defeat the lightly-armed Taliban after eleven years, and whose economy and those of its NATO puppets are in trouble and decline with corresponding rising internal unrest and loss of confidence in political leadership.http://www.spiegel.de/international/world/pew-study-finds-steep-declines-in-faith-in-politicians-and-capitalism-a-844127.html
